MuckRock Sunshine Week Editorial Package

MuckRock has released their own Sunshine Week Editorial Package for this year's Sunshine Week, and we are happy to provide this information for anyone interested!

Below is a Google Drive link to their editorial package, which includes:

  • Feature on examples of public records reporting, formatted for both print and web (1100 words)

  • A formatted feature on some of their most bizarre rejections (800 words plus art) from over the years, available for both print and web

  • A short sidebar (200 words) with helpful tips before for readers thinking of filing a request

  • A brief guide to accessing their state-level data in case it’s useful in Sunshine Week reporting.

In addition, on Sunday they’ll be launching Muck.Rocks, a new site that randomly suggests a public records request idea, as well as examples of the kinds of reporting that request can lead to. You can highlight your own publication’s records work by submitting here.
