NLA is looking for a Program Director
The News Leaders Association is hiring a Program Director to lead the creation and distribution of training, networking and advocacy programs for journalists and news leaders. NLA empowers news leaders to build diverse, sustainable newsrooms that use fact-based information to inform the communities they serve. The Program Director will join a small, entrepreneurial team in building in person and virtual programs that support news leaders, advance newsroom leadership diversity, and advocate for independent journalism.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Produce ongoing series of leadership development programs to train the next generation of transformational news leaders
Create and moderate vital platforms for networking and mentoring
Be attuned to member and community needs and adapt programming accordingly
Develop programs and events that engage members and builds member loyalty
Pursue collaborative program partnerships
Identify and manage speakers, trainers and coaches
Manage execution of programming at virtual and live summits and conferences
Track and report on short and long-term impact of programs
Identify programmatic funding and inform proposals with program descriptions
Play a key role in digital content strategy and execution
Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience:
Developing training and coaching materials for journalists and newsroom leaders
Reporting or editing experience in a newsroom in the past six years
Producing virtual and live events
Identifying and accessing experts and speaking candidates
Commitment to the highest standards of journalistic ethics
Familiar with emerging tech in journalism, virtual webinars, digital publishing
Strong writing and communication skills, strong organizational skills, ability to be urgent and purposeful in meeting the goals of the organization
