Deadline extended: 2021 NLA Awards now open until Feb. 19
We've heard from many of you that you're having trouble getting your NLA Awards submissions in before today’s deadline. No worries. We understand the added pressure on newsrooms today — so we’re extending the contest deadline.
The 2021 NLA Awards will be open until 11:59 p.m. EST Friday, Feb. 19. Don't miss out on this opportunity of extra time to submit your work! Enter here.
Some things to keep in mind:
All news websites, news services (including radio, TV stations and magazines) and newspapers are eligible to enter.
All awards come with a cash prize, thanks to our generous sponsors.
Entry fees are $75.
This year, there won't be separate award categories for small and large newsroom divisions.
The categories for this year's awards are:
Dori J. Maynard Justice Award
Batten Medal for Coverage of the Coronavirus Pandemic
Deborah Howell Award for Writing Excellence
Frank A. Blethen Award for Local Accountability Reporting
Burl Osborne Editorial and Opinion Award
Punch Sulzberger Innovator of the Year Award
News Leader of the Year Award — a new category for 2021

We'll be holding an awards ceremony later this year to honor the award winners of both the 2020 and 2021 NLA Award winners. Details of this event will be announced at a later date.
